Best Snow in Europe for Decades!
The Alpine ski season has had its earliest start for decades, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph this week. With many Alpine resorts already looking like they’re in the middle of winter instead of late autumn, things look very promising for the 2009/10 ski season. Skiers and snowboarders flocked to the slopes this weekend in the handful of European resorts that opened their lifts early, enjoying outstanding conditions following snowfalls of more than 50cm.
A spokesman for the Ski Club of Great Britain told the Daily Telegraph, “We’ve seen some fantastic snowfalls across Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland, which is very unusual for this time of year. This is great news for people looking to book trips in December and in the New Year, because they can be confident that there will be a good base layer of snow on the pistes.”
Tour operators are reporting a big increase in the number of bookings compared to this time last year.
