Lift Passes
Lift Passes
- The price of lift passes can vary widely as the lifts systems are generally owned and run by independent companies in different resorts. Passes can be purchased online before you travel (there will be a link to the relevant website from your resort’s official Tourist Office website or contact us for details) or you can also buy them at ticket offices in resorts although you may have to queue at peak times. New season prices are generally available from August or September.
- Daily or half day passes are available in resort, but if you intend to ski everyday, it generally works out much cheaper to buy a pass for the duration of your stay. Whilst we try to give you as much up to date information as we can, we recommend that you take time to choose the lift pass which is best for you as there are usually a number of variations available.
- Only buy a full area pass if you intend to make the most of it – it could be more cost effective to buy a local pass for your resort only and add an extension if you need it. Check for family concessions (you will usually have to show your passport to take advantage of these) and any special offers in early or late season.
- In some resorts, beginners go free on lifts at the nursery slopes so hold off buying a pass until you actually need one. Children under 5 have free access to lifts in most resorts.
- Your lift pass will usually allow you to travel free around the resort on the shuttle buses but may also entitle you to other perks such as free or discounted swimming, skating or sports centre entry. You will sometimes get a day’s skiing in a different resort. Check the details online or at the lift pass office.
- Most passes of 6 day duration or more are now offered in a ‘hands free’ format so it can be left safely in your pocket at all times. There is sometimes a small extra charge for this reusable card. Your photo will usually be taken digitally at the time of purchase if required.
- Your lift pass is valuable – always keep your receipt and if you lose your pass, report it straight away to the ticket office. Similarly, if you find yourself unable to ski for the rest of the week due to injury etc, you will need your receipt to make a claim on your insurance. Any claims made on the Carte/Carre Neige insurance (if purchased with your lift pass) must be made within 7 days.
