Ski School & Childcare

All resorts offer instruction for skiers and boarders of all standards, from complete beginners to expert.  Depending on your preference and budget, you can choose group, private or semi-private lessons or hire a guide for the day to help you get the best out of the ski area including off-piste.  Adults and children are usually taught separately in group lessons.

The Ecole de Ski Francaise (ESF) is the French national ski school, whose instructors are instantly recognizable in their distinctive red ski suits.  The instructors are generally English-speaking but group lessons are international and the first language may well be French depending on the make-up of the group.  Larger resorts have a choice of other independent ski schools, some of which cater specifically for British clients.

Take a look at the Tourist Office site for your chosen resort which will have details of all the ski schools available, or go online to book an ESF course.  Advance booking is recommended, especially for children, during peak holiday periods, but you may also be able to enrol on a course or find a private instructor during your holiday if you wish.

Many families opt to put their children into group morning lessons, meet up for lunch and then all ski together in the afternoon.  For very young children (age ranges vary, but usually from 3 – 6 years), there are ‘ski kindergartens’ which combine a gentle introduction to skiing with lunch and day care.  Some resort also have creches available for babies and toddlers.

Resort kindergarten and ski school facilities will comply with local regulations but you will need to satisfy yourself that the level of care provided fully meets your own requirements and also that there are places available on your chosen dates.

We can provide you with contact information for the local Tourist Office should you have any enquiries about services on offer in your resort.
